Many books have been written about business, many also have been written about entrepreneurship. Drawing from my experience of teaching business and entrepreneurship in the last two decades or so, I have come to realize that it is not just important to note that business and entrepreneurship cannot be taught from the theoretical angle alone but with a lot of practical instances, examples and cases, but also important is the fact that the business enterprise created based on entrepreneurship principles tend to survive and succeed more than those established without drawing from the entrepreneurship building blocks (Awodun 2016).

To put this in perspective, let us examine the following questions raised by Daniel Goleman; (1) Why are some people able to build a flourishing business from nothing, when others, even with the best of preparations in terms of business school knowledge, run down a business? (2) What are the abilities that allow someone to take a non-performing company and transform it into an industry leader when others turn successful companies into mediocre companies after they have been given the opportunity to run it? (3) What collective qualities will make a company successful year after year while its competitors fail?

The answers to these questions lie not just in luck (including destiny or divinity), breeding (including genetic or family traits), or education (both formal and informal knowledge), but a systemic intelligence that makes some people naturally talented at the complex demands of business, just as some other people are naturally gifted at music or football. Such abilities are also found displaying itself in superlative teams, at the group level, and excellent companies, at the organizational level (Goleman et al, 2002).
