Abdur-Raheem Adebayo Lawal is a Professor of English Education and Applied Linguistics and the current Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) at the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria. 'Bayo Lawal, as better known, had taught English Studies at various periods at the defunct St. Andrew's College of Education, Oyo, University of Ibadan and Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, all in Nigeria. His poems have appeared in several anthologies, periodicals and chapbooks, including ANA Review, Kongo and The Fate of Vultures, the 1988 BBC Award-winning anthology published by Heinemann, London. First published in 1994 by Paragon books, Melodreams is Lawal’s first collection of poems, the second being Music of the Muezzin also published in 2014 by Kraft Books Limited.
