As is the case with all Wilbur Smith books, the main character is heroic, valiant, good-looking and compassionate. The villain in this story is despicable, perverted, greedy, murderous and cruel. Wilbur Smith’s descriptions of this villian (Ning Cheng Gong) and his sickening deeds and exploits inspire an enraged hatred of him in the reader. You can’t wait to get to the end of the book, where he will be mercilessly defeated, courtesy of Daniel (the heroic main character). I highly recommend it.
